A Hindu boy Shekhar (Aravind Swami) falls in love with a Muslim girl, Shehla Bano (Manisha Koirala). When their families oppose the alliance, they decide to elope and live in Bombay where Shekhar works as a journalist. They have twins and the families are on the road to compromise and good relations. The destruction of the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya triggers off riots all over their city and in the turmoil, the twins are lost. Is the family is reunited?
