Shakti returns to the rural Indian village where he grew up after years of studying abroad in London and brings home his new girlfriend Anita and finds the town torn apart by strife and discord between his landowner father Raja Thakur and rival landowner Biruj, Raja's crippled brother. Against all forms of violence, Shakti considers leaving, but upon the sudden death of his father, takes over the family business and tries to de-escalate the violence between the two factions which only gets complicated because of Biruj's hot-tempered son Bali determined to run Shakti out of town, or kill him.
Meanwhile, when Anita leaves to visit her parents in a big city, Shakti's former lover Gehna wants his hand in marriage forcing him to chose which life and woman he wants to be with.
